Mineral Make-Up On Your Wedding Day?
I can’t tell you how often this topic comes up with my brides. So many so called “make-up artists” tell women it’s perfectly fine to use mineral foundation on their wedding day. These are the people who think they can hang a sign saying: “I’m a make-up artist, let me do your make-up on one of the biggest day of your life!” Please make no mistake, they are inexperienced and are the main reason why so much misinformation gets spreads. I am constantly re-teaching women things that other wanna be make-up artists have told them.
So let me explain a few things.
I LOVE mineral make-up, and apply it on myself everyday. When used properly, minerals give the skin a pretty glow (that doesn’t mean you should be sleeping in it) and are a great addition to any make-up bags for everyday use. However, when taking photography mineral foundation is definitely NOT your best choice.
Most commercial, print and TV make-up artists spend the bulk of their money on foundations and face powder. The type of media job they are doing will determine the type of foundation needed. With digital imaging gone mainstream, skin coverage is the most important.
A professional make-up artist will NEVER be caught on a set using mineral foundation. Why you might ask? Because of the high level of titanium dioxide.
So what exactly is titanium dioxide? It is a natural sunscreen, and it is used to reflect light away from the face. All products with an SPF have it and most all foundations have it as well. In mineral make-up it is in higher concentration. So when flash is used it will, just like sunlight, bounce of the person’s face resulting in a ghostly white appearance in pictures.
There a many types of foundations on the market. The types of coverage you want will dictate the type of foundation needed. Whatever your choice, make sure you use a product without SPF.

A special report by Paula Begoun and Bryan Barron

Hi, I have been trying to find the best airbrush makeup & have had different suggestions. Did u find the temptu products to be cheaper priced @ the show than on the website? What’s a good airbrush machine? I have an airbrush system but I think I want to upgrade.
Temptu products were priced the same at the show. They do offer a pro discount with proper paper work. I love Temptu airbrush compressors, my favorite is the portable one. I use it for shoots all the time. It works great, although it is only recommended for faces. For body airbrushing you will need the regular compressor. Hope that helps.
