My sister, Marie-Laure, and her girlfriend, Nadine, are visiting. They come from a beautiful region in the Southwest of France and live in the deep country. Cows surround them, they grow their own vegetables and the village population is about 1000.  So you can imagine what an impression Key West has made!!!

Nadine, is absolutely in love with dolphins and one of her big dream was to swim with the beautiful creatures. After doing some research and realizing that it is now illegal to swim with dolphins in the wild, I decided to make reservation at “Theater of the Sea” mile marker 84 in Islamorada.

What an experience it was!

After a short briefing people were separated in groups of 5. They were then directed by an instructor into a natural lagoon and were asked to swim about 15 feet away from the shore.
That is when the excitement begun… Each person in the group got to interact with Stormy a 300 pound beautiful dolphin. One at the time, after being instructed to give Stormy some hand signal, they would do an exercise with him. The exercises were so much fun, they danced with Stormy, swam on his back while holding on to his dorsal fin, laid on his stomach for a fun ride, and also received a kiss from him.
I watched from the shore, proud and completely mesmerized, Jasmine my 5 year old daughter having the time of her life!

Needless to say, the experience was unforgettable.
If you come down to the Keys check it out, it’s well worth it. Check out the slide show below.
