Our Visit To The White House

November 25, 2008

Tuesday November 25, 2008

Today was the day we went to the white House.   We got up super early (Serena and Michael’s Mom were still asleep) and left at 6:45AM to meet Ileana’s chief of staff at the gate of the visitor’s entrance.  We passed the high security check point and the tour begun.

I was surprised at the size of the Presidential Mansion, it’s small really, and the tour only took 20 minutes.  Overall definitely beautiful.  Presidents portraits hanging on the wall and ornate decor makes it an interesting place.  No pictures whatsoever were allowed so here you can view a virtual tour.  My favorite room was the red room.

How about the US capitol you might ask?  Well I didn’t make it.  Afraid of Serena having a complete melt down if left alone with grandma, I decided to keep her company.  Jasmine and Michael went on to tour it and reported it was awesome.  You got to do what you got to do when your a Mom.

By the way it’s freezing here.  My lips are chapped; my feet, from being in enclosed shoes, are suffering greatly with blisters and my hands super dry. I’m a mess.  Key West weather is dearly missed.

I’m not complaining though we’ve had some rockin’ shopping at Tyson’s corner and visiting the family has been fun.  Can’t wait for turkey day!
