Am I the only one not getting this? Quiet frankly the MAC, Dame Edna collaboration is a huge disappointment. What are the MAC people on? Could this be even tackier I ask?
Granted, I haven’t seen any of the products with my very own eyes, but the thought of wearing anything associated with this weirdo makes my cringe.
He is a total abomination and a complete insult to women. BOO MAC!
Without make-up…
How do you lovelies feel about this… Yay or Nay?

[...] haven’t felt the love for Ms. Kitty, and I’m starting to feel, once again, that I’m the only [...]
I wouldn’t expect you to “get it”. You paint the faces of brides – not drag performers. Before you passed judgment on the product based on the character tie-in, you missed out on a quality product.
Dame Edna is a comedic creation that has been appearing on stages worldwide for over 60 years to critical and audience acclaim. The character is not remotely an insult to women. In fact, Mr. Humphries is so completely compelling as his creation that audiences, despite the lavender hair, totally forget that this is a man playing an aging Australian woman.
The MAC Dame Edna line was available for a short length of time, however, I know many makeup artists who utilized the Dame Edna palette for photo shoots, fashion shows and so forth. Obviously, the tongue-in-cheek approach to this character having her own makeup line was intended to be humorous – many people would enjoy the character tie-in for the kitsch factor, and when they looked at the quality and color of the selected palettes, they’d buy the product because it was MAC – not because anyone would WANT to look like Dame Edna.
Dame Edna is all about IRONY – something the MAC people fully embraced – and you seem to have totally missed.
Hi Bob!
The fact that I do bridal makeup that doesn’t make me forget about Mac makeup quality. My entire kit is filled with it. It’s the Character association that makes me cringe.
Let me begin by saying that Drag Queen makeup enthrall me. I see drag queens as makeup trendsetter and what fascinate me the most about it is the aspect of transformation. Some know more about looking fabulous than many women do.
Take Ru Paul (I adore her) MAC Cosmetics’ first Viva Glam girl, she embodies the art of transformation and beauty. Her metamorphosis is phenomenal, her skills one of the best. She makes beliefs. Dame Edna doesn’t! And I don’t buy it for a second that audiences totally forget that this is a man. How could they?
That being said, I can certainly see why some people would enjoy her Irony and kitsch factor. Sorry to say I don’t.
