Going Bare the Organic Way

MOOM is not a wax  but a natural sugaring gel made with organic cane sugar, lemon juice, chamomile and lavender.  As soon as I read about it I wanted to try it, I love waxing!  I was thrilled to received my mini kit, my stache was starting to look rather scary.

What it’s supposed to do

- Leaves skin hair-free for up to 2 months
- Ideal for all skin types and delicate areas
- Remove coarse as well as fine hair effectively
- Glass Container can be warmed in microwave or water
- Gently removes the hair with the root
- Water-soluble and leaves no residue on the skin
- Washable reusable fabric strips last for years
- No animal testing
- Hypoallergenic

The kit

In the kit you will find:

- 6 oz MOOM sugaring blend
- 18 reusable fabric strips
- 4 wooden applicators
- Instruction booklet

Once you run out of wax, a 12 ounce refill jar can be purchased separately so as to avoid paying extra for the tools.

Melts easily

I opened the kit and as directed place the jar in the microwave for 10 seconds.  The wax was still too cold so I did it again for another 10 seconds and this time the consistency was perfect…  Off to the bathroom I went for a little hair removal action.

Note: the wax can also be heated in hot water.  I haven’t tried that method.

Oh so gentle

The last time I had my eyebrows waxed half of the skin came off with it.  I had completely forgotten that Retinol products should not be used in conjunction with waxing and ended up in a lot of pain and badly bruised.  I had read on the company’s website that MOOM doesn’t affect the skin in negative ways so I figured it was well worth the try and tested it on a small part above my lip.  I applied a very thin layer of wax, placed the fabric strip over it and vigorously rubbed back and forth before pulling in the opposite direction that the wax was applied.  Most of the hair came off, my skin was left intact.  The redness that followed was a lot less noticeable than with regular waxing and dissipated very quickly.  I proceeded to wax my brows with success.  Way to go!

Washable/reusable

The most amazing part of this wax is that it washes off.  So let’s say you apply a little too much, no problem, remove the extra wax with warm water and that’s it — NO sticky mess left behind.  the other notable aspect of this product is the fact the strips are reusable.  Wash them after each use with soap and water and you’re good to go.  About that for green?  Pretty cool.

Final thoughts

While I do not see (at least for myself) MOOM replacing professional waxing services for places such as bikini and legs, MOOM has definitely found a permanent spot in my bathroom for small areas such as my face.  I love how gentle it is, and that even with the daily use of heavy duty exfoliator like prescription Retinol, I can still have perfectly groomed eyebrows and be stache free without having to risk lifting the skin.  Nothing like a good waxing job!
