Product Review: The Skinny On Lipfusion Infatuation

February 15, 2011

Lipfusion lip plumpers have been around for while. The product never really grabbed me. Not so much because I have such juicy lips, they’re rather average, more because it screamed… GIMMICK.  Judgemental, I know. Couldn’t help myself.

What it’s supposed to do

Discover the first liquid lip color with extraordinary Amplifat™ technology to increase and maintain body fat just where you need it most!

Here’s what the company list about the key Ingredients

- Amplifat™: concentrate (derived from a perennial sea fern) works with the skin’s own triggers to help naturally increase two key proteins that occur naturally in the skin (ADFP and FABP5). These two key proteins help induce diffusion and storage of fatty acids.

- Lip Vantage: is a dual-encapsulated plumping and highly hydrating ingredient that delivers incredible moisture and promotes lip renewal for more youthful looking lips

- Peptides: enhance collagen synthesis for naturally enhanced, lush, youthful, healthy lips

Then a couple of days ago while heavily beauty restocking on the Internet, I came across Lipfusion Infatuation mini set ($24). Not sure why, but I went for it.

3 colors (from left to right): Angelic, Pucker up, In The Flesh.

Angelic: Semi opaque Gorgeous peachy pink with gold shimmer. My favorite of all 3.

Pucker up: is a semi-opaque medium pink with a little bit of brightness and shimmer.  Not a hot pink by any stretch. Looks a lot brighter in the tube than on the lips.

In The Flesh: is a semi-opaque dark peach with light pink-peach shimmer. Pretty on warm skin.

Mild tingling.  Nice smell.  No noticeable plumping

Like with all lip plumpers this product has a tingling effect.  It’s rather mild and didn’t bother me at all.  Love the texture, colors and  high gloss finish.  It lasted about the same amount of time as my Mac or Nars gloss

I was pleasantly surprised by the citrus smell. Not too overwhelming and fresh.

Now in regard to the plumping. To be honest I was curious…

According to the manufacturer Lipfusion must be in direct contact with the lips in order to do its thing.   I made sure my lips were completely bare. No liner, lipstick or chapstcik. NADA. And no plumping effect either.  Maybe not so judgmental after all.

Lipfusion Infatuation retails $29 for the full size.  Right up there with Chanel Glossimer or Dior. For me the color an texture could make it a repurchase.  The lip plumping effect on the other hand was a huge let down.

Studio Marie-Pierre rating:
D for plumping
A for color and texture
