Product Review: By Terry, Touche Veloutee

Touche Veloutee… Touche Veloutee… The name alone sounds alluring.
Created by Terry De Gunzberg, the creator of the iconic YSL Touche Eclat, Touche Veloute is the creme de la creme combo highlighter/concealer pen. Far superior to De Gunzberg’s original creation I use it everyday. The texture is richly creamy, incredibly smooth when dried, and effortless to blend. The subtle brightness it gives the eyes area is hard to beat.
Packaging

The packaging itself resembles a thick pen with a push button at the top. The button releases the product into the brush.

The brush is about half an inch wide and very silky. Initially for your first use, you’ll need to pump the pen 2 or 3 time in order for the product to start coming through the brush. After that, one pump is sufficient and almost too much. There’s a tendency to waste with this mechanism, as I find it challenging to control how much comes out. That’s really the only downfall.
3 shades

TV comes in 3 shades from left to right: Porcelain, Cream and Beige.
Using soft focus pigments, Touche Veloutee is filled with nourishing botanical to plumps and lifts the under eye. The radiance it creates will help illuminate the sleepiest complexion. Guaranteed to help with any hangover looking face if you’re in Key West partying! Ha!
The texture is richly creamy, incredibly smooth when dried, and effortless to blend. Suitable for use on all areas of the face. Immediate, flawless pick-me-ups.

Something worth noting… Because of its light reflecting particles, I would not recommend to set Touche Veloutee with a powder such as Laura Mercier Secret Brightening powder. The 2 combined will make your eyes area looks very white especially when photographed with a flash. Use MUFE HD Invisible instead.

Touche Veloutee Porcelain
Touche Veloutee Cream

Touche Veloutee Beige.
Final thoughts
At $55.50 a tube Touche veloutee is not a bargain. Not the least. And may not be the right product for eveyone.
High caliber products that deliver superior results are simply must have in my kit both for my clients and myself. And well worth the mula if you ask me.
Granted, the packaging needs some improvement. I’ll overlook that for now.

Hi, have you tried cle de peau’s concealer? If so, how would you say it would compare to Touche Veloutee?
Hi Christine! Cle De peau has a heavier coverage and isn’t light reflecting. I really like it too! You can combine with TV. First conceal the darker area with CDP then, with a light touch, apply TV. Especially great in the inner corner of eyes. Hope that makes sense
