The Chronicles of Silk’n SensEpil: Round 3

December 28, 2010

Recently I introduced you to the Silk’n SensEpil at home hair laser device that promises professional-grade results…over time. This is treatment 3 of an 8 treatment review and testing period.

Last week ladies I reported some noticeable improvement in diverse parts of my bod. I was excited to see what would happen after round 2…  Well, are you ready???  I am thrilled to announce my toes are completely hair free! The sucker on my chin hasn’t grown back either. And just so you know I’m starring in a 5X magnifying mirror! My frazzled bikini line and underarms are looking way more civilized. Between the hair that seems to be completely gone and the hair with a much slower regrowth, I only had to shave twice last week. Yay for me.

I methodically zapped again last night, hardly feeling anything at all. I had the power cranked to medium/high. I totally dig the zapping process… ZAP! ZAP! ZAP! There’s something very satisfying about doing your own hair removal.

So far I am extremely pleased with the outcome of my SensEpil and imagine it’s only going to get better.
With a price tag of $499 the SensEpil isn’t cheap and may not be the right purchase for everyone. For me this is turning out to be a God sent. The days of being permanently smooth are around the corner.

What do you do for hair removal?

Recently I had the pleasure to do Vanessa’s hair and makeup for her Key West Wedding at the Ocean Key Resort.

With her incredible smile and vibrant personality, I really don’t think its gets any more delightful than Vanessa.  Her baby girl, Chloe, was beyond adorable, I could have eaten her up with a spoon.

Classic low chignon with a side part.

Handmade to DIE FOR hairpiece. You just can’t go wrong.

Congratulations Vanessa. Looking forward to seeing you again November 2011 for Stephanie’s wedding!

Vanessa’s Hair Trial for Her Upcoming 2011 Key West Wedding

December 23, 2010

Can’t go wrong with half up half down style when you have hair Like Vanessa. She came to the studio yesterday to do a hair trial for her upcoming 2011 Key West wedding and we had a great time. LOVE the hair.

So it’s 2 days before Christmas and I don’t know about you, but I am EXCITED! The best part is certainly not the wrapping (God knows how much it drive me crazy!) but watching the girls going down the stairs on Christmas morning, bed head and all, with big eyes and full of giggles heading towards the Christmas tree where piles of presents await their little hands.

Eating the cookies the girls leave for Santa is a close favorite too. Hey someone’s got to do it.

Be PICKY – We’ll LOVE You Anyway

December 22, 2010

Thank you so much for making me feel so beautiful on my wedding day. You were so patient and understanding of what I wanted, even though I was quite picky :). It really meant a lot to me. Thanks again for making our big day so special.
Sincerely,
Courtney Cassara (Becker)

This wonderful card I received a few days ago really made my day.  Um… gush! THANK YOU Courtney! It also reiterated how important all this hair and makeup business is… And yes to be particular about the way you look is OK — why shouldn’t it be?!?!

It’s your wedding day. You are allowed to get what you want, especially when it comes to your hair and makeup. And even more so if you’ve hired a hair/makeup artist to provide this service for you. This is the day you will have all eyes on you. Be as picky as you feel you need to be about your appearance. WE WANT YOU TOO!  Our goal is to make sure we have achieved what our clients want. To exceed your expectations.

Tips when it comes to hiring a professional hair and makeup artist:

1) Before you hire a hair and makeup artist, be sure to interview them. Don’t be shy to ask questions, references.  You need to make sure the individual (or team) is a true professional stylist before you entrust them on such an important day. They cannot be any let down.

2) Once you have decided whom to hire and done so, tell the stylist what you want. Have a general idea of how you would like to look and discuss your ideas. Remember, it is okay to be particular and expect your desired look to be accomplished. You should feel comfortable with your stylist and expect patience and understanding from them. That is why you hired them.

3) If possible do a trial run before the big day. It will relieve all fear of the unknown.

We will work with you to create the look you are envisioning. The perfect look is important. Photos have the tendency to stick around forever.

To all our potential and future brides, we encourage you to be forthcoming. Set high standards! We are here for you no matter what. Picky or not, we adore our brides.

A Gateway 5 Days Before Christmas… I know I’m Crazy

December 20, 2010

When I found out Cirque Du Soleil Kooza was going to be in Miami during Christmas break I immediately bought ticket. Who cares if it’s five day before Christmas and I should really stick around considering how much stuff I still need to do.

The show was as usual incredible full of magic and acrobatic. The girls loved it and I wished I could have captured their angel faces as they watched mesmerized. No cameras allowed though.

Help Portrait Key West 2010 Is Here And We’re Part Of It

December 17, 2010

Today In the Key West Citizen

We are thrilled to be once again part of Help Portrait. This  national event will be taking place Saturday December 18th at TSWK. Photographers and Stylists are donating their time to take free pictures of homeless women and children currently living at the Samuel’s House.

Help-Portrait is a movement of photographers, hairstylists, makeup artists and volunteers who come together to give to those who are less fortunate. Not only is this happening here in Key West, but around the world.  Thousands of people are participating to make this a success.

Founded by Celebrity Photographer Jeremy Cowart, Help-Portrait is a community of photographers, coming together across the world to use their photography skills to give back to their local community.

In December, photographers around the world will be grabbing their cameras, finding people in need and taking their picture. When the prints are ready, the photographs get delivered.

Just in case you haven’t seen it, here is the new video explaining the idea of Help-Portrait.

Have an amazing day! And don’t forget to give back, even if it’s with a smile.

Rachel’s Wedding At The Audubon House And… A Thank You

December 16, 2010

Hi Marie-Pierre,

Well these photos are way overdue, but better late than never, right?! Thank you so much for doing such a beautiful job on my hair/makeup and my bridesmaid’s up-do’s. Stephanie H. recommended you…and like all our wedding vendors, she recommended nothing but the best! You really took your time and we couldn’t have been happier. We also had a blast hanging out in your studio for the afternoon. Blame it on nerves, but I think we laughed the entire time. Thank you again! Hopefully our paths will cross again in Key West!

With eyes and skin like that how you could anyone go wrong right? I loved Rachel, ALL her giggles and wonderful bridesmaids.

The pleasure was all mine Rachel. Thank you for trusting me with a very important part of your day. Wishing you nothing but love and happiness and of course LOTS of giggles.

Product Review (Part 2): Silk’n SensEpil, At Home Laser Hair Removal

December 14, 2010

Are you ready for part 2 review of Silk’n SensEpil???? Are you? Because I’ve got some news for you.

If you haven’t read part one go read it here.

First off the nasty sucker on my chin is gone, poof, obliterated. And that was only after one treatment, one single zap. Frankly, even if my chin was the only place SensEpil ever worked I would still be thrilled.  Do you have any idea in how much distress I was over that ugly bristle?  Not looking like I’m growing beard. Priceless.

Loving the significant reduction in thickness of the hair on my toes too. They’re not gone, but I had to look really close to see them. Will one more session be sufficient in order to get fuzz free tootsies? Think so.

My bikini line and underarms are another story… Still looking frazzled. No improvements there. YET. Since it may take up to 8 treatments (3.5 month) in order to see the full results, I have high hope.

As recommend by the manufacturer I waited 15 days before giving myself another round of laser. That was last night.  Went to town.  Felt like a Jedi with my lightstabber… SenEpil would be proud.

Next update… 2 weeks. Now beat it.
